U-Bein Bridge Restoration: 3-day restoration works to complete on November 1

The famous U-Beinbridge located in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region attracts a large number of visitors to enjoy scenic beauty of the TaungTha Man Lake.

On 29th October, 2 sections of the bridge collapsed and restoration works are being implemented for three days and targeted to complete in the evening of November 1st. The bridge was constructed through the TaungTha Man Lake and it connects ancient capital ‘Amarapura’ with Yandanabon University.

According to the official from the Department of Archeology and National Museum (Mandalay), construction materials were collected starting from 29th October and restoration process began on 30th October. The U Bein Bridge is about 170 years old.

Under the management of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, engineers from the Department of Archeology and National Museum (Mandalay) made survey and started bridge restoration works. During the restoration process, teak woods are used as pillars and hardwoods are used for deck of the bridge. On the 29th of October, over 100,000 people visited the U-Beinbridge, it’s reported.
