

Firefighters and local villagers were battling large fire on peatland areas in Indonesia's Sumatra Island. Wildfires have caused haze in several cities in the island. An Indonesian city with a population of hundreds of thousands has shut schools and hold virtual learning from home.
More than 300 forest and peatland fires on Indonesia’s Sumatra Island caused hazy skies across the region, prompting government officials to ask people to work from home.The fire has burned through 75 hectares of peatland in Sumatra province and around the toll road connecting it to Palembang, head of Sumatra island's forest and land fire control said.The local government has also asked residents to wear masks and reduce outdoor activity as the air quality deteriorates.
