China's Hong Kong completed construction of its first high-resolution, remote-sensing AI satellite and is set for a launch in late November this year.

The satellite, "Hong Kong Star", was successfully manufactured at the Hong Kong Satellite Manufacturing Center. It is scheduled to be sent into orbit from an offshore launch pad in neighboring Guangdong Province on the mainland in late November.

Scientists say it can provide high-precision big data for global logistics, disaster prevention and relief, emergency response and safety, remote-sensing and smart city building. The achievement marks a major step in the special administrative region's plan to build the Hong Kong Space Starlink between 2024 and 2029, which will consist of 720 satellites.
