Fire engulfed a building in National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta on Saturday, resulting in the destruction of at least four rooms. The police is still investigating the cause of the fire. Museum and Cultural Heritage Conservation Agency has established a special team, to take care and save the ancient objects and prehistoric treasures.

The temporary closure aims to ensure the safety and security of visitors as well as the museum collection of some 190,000 artifacts. It is also known as the elephant museum, due to the elephant statue presented by king Chulalongkorn or Rama fifth of Thailand in 1871.
