Students from 21 high schools from across Japan competed in a national event on Sunday to showcase their calligraphy skills and performances on a huge sheet of paper.

The event was held at a gymnasium in a city in Ehime Prefecture, Japan. Within a time limit of six minutes, each team, comprising up to 12 members, produced calligraphy while conducting a performance on a sheet of paper measuring four by six meters. It was the first time in four years that an audience was allowed at the event because of the coronavirus pandemic.
