Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in Beijing on Wednesday.
Wang said mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation will allow China and the United States to get along. Kissinger said that he cares about the development of U.S.-China relations and supports recent efforts made by both sides to improve ties.
The two sides also exchanged views on the global crisis and artificial intelligence. More than 50 years ago, Kissinger, who then served as U.S. national security advisor, helped lay the groundwork for then U.S. President Richard Nixon's China visit and the eventual normalization of U.S.-China relations.
