A music store in Tokyo has set up a special booth for Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto on Monday after the report of his death. Sakamoto, a world-renowned musician and actor who composed for Hollywood hits such as “The Last Emperor” and “The Revenant,” died on March 28 while undergoing cancer treatment.

The 71-year-old musician was a pioneer of the electronic music of the late 1970s. He was a founding member of a trailblazing electronic music group and composed acclaimed film scores that won him an Oscar. Despite his battle with cancer, Sakamoto released a full-length album “12” on his 71st birthday in January, stating that composing had a small healing effect on his damaged body and soul.
