A Japanese cabinet minister condemned North Korea on Monday after it fired two short-range ballistic missiles off its eastern coast earlier in the day.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told that the launches were "absolutely unacceptable as it threatens the peace and security of region and the international community.” According to Japanese and South Korean assessments, the North Korean missiles flew at a maximum altitude of 50-100 kilometres and a distance of 340-400 kilometres.
