








Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe together with officials made a field trip to Magway Region on Monday for development of paddy and mung bean cultivation and production with the state economic promotion fund in line with the guidance of the Prime Minister.
On arrival at the Magway Region Government office, the Union Minister held meeting with the regional chief Minister U Tint Lwin and officials and discussed cultivation and production of paddy and mung bean. The Union Minister and party then met departmental staff, officials, local entrepreneurs and farmers at the Magway City Hall and discussed implementation of summer paddy projects to be carried out with the state economic promotion fund.
At the meeting the Union Minister discussed providing fertilizers and insecticides at a 1% service charge without borrowing money for the inputs that are necessary for farmers who grow rice and green gram, reselling and paying rice and mung beans equal to the value of manure by the farmers, supervising of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, relevant ministries and the regional governments for getting inputs to farmers within the set time and arrangement for the programs.
The Magway Region Chief Minister also said that it is targeted to cultivate about 40,000 acres of winter mung beans and around 50,000 acres of summer paddy in Magway region, plans for achieving the project, plans for recovering loans from the Agricultural Development Bank and supervising on strain, input and availability of water for the project.
Officials coordinated the needs on the queries raised by local entrepreneurs and farmers. Later, the Union Minister handed over 800 tonnes of rice for people in Magway Region to the Region Chief Minister out of the rice donated by Japan and the Republic of Korea through Tier 3 programme of ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR).
