




A work coordination meeting with the Union Level Central Organizations and the Union Ministries for holding mass walk in commemoration of 2022 December mass sports activity organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
In his opening remark, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Myo Hlaing said that for the fitness and health of the entire people, the month of December is designated as the month of the mass sports activity annually and the mass walks, collective physical exercises, sports competitions for fun and physical fitness dances will be conducted.
The Deputy Minister called for all ministries to participate in the activity with full swing as the national awareness. The entire people including the Union Ministries and the State/Region Governments are urged to participate actively in the mass walk in commemoration of mass sports activity.
The Director General of the Sports and Physical Education Department said that although the mass walk activity has been held in Nay Pyi Taw since 2006, the activity could be held in 2020 and 2021 because of high infection rate of COVID-19. This year, the infection rate has been declined at a certain extend and so that, the mass walk and sports competitions are held again.
The mass walk activity will be held in the compound of Wunna Theikdhi Stadium every Saturday of December at 5:45 am. Officials also discussed security measures, rules and regulations for the mass walks, physical exercise programs, invitation for short story, article, poem and photo contests in addition to the December mass sports activity.
