Eradication of Illegal Trade: VSG addresses at the Steering Committee meeting

Steering Committee on Eradication of Illegal Trade held a work coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

Chairman of the Steering Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win attended the meeting and made a speech, saying that with the cooperative efforts of concerned organizations and departments, illegal trade eradication tasks have been carried out more effectively. 

He stressed that it is needed to accelerate the efforts to prevent and seize the illegal trades as much as possible although it is not possible for total eradication at present. He added the needs to provide bonuses and recognition to the staff and citizens who cooperate and serve duties for preventing and seizure of illegal trades.

From January to September 2022, 45.6 billion kyats worth of illegal trade have been seized in 3,095 cases, which is over 38 billion kyats more seizures in the same period compared with the previous year.
