Coordination meeting: Assistances of India Government for Rakhine State discussed

The coordination meeting regarding with the projects implementing under the MoU between Myanmar and India was held under the leading the Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khaing of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.Also present at the meeting were the deputy minister U Aung Tun Khaing, permanent secretary, the first secretary of India EmbassyMr. Jitendra Rawat and Liaison Officer Mr. Gautam Pandey, director generals from the related ministries and the officials from the Rakhine State Government led by the Chief Minister and the state level officials who will implement the projects also attended the meeting via online.

In her opening speech, the Union Minister expressed words of thanks for the assistances provided by the India according to the MoU and said that under the MoU signed between Myanmar and India, India would provide 25 million USD for five years at a rate of 5 million USD per year.

For the first of the project, the Indian government has provided 250 houses.The approval for the second-year 13 projects has been obtained and the relevant departments are implementing by formulating 4 stages of work processes.

Regarding with the proposals sent for 17 projects to be implemented in the third year, as the embassy of India informed to hold the coordination meeting with the relevant departments including the ministry of social welfare, relief and resettlement through the ministry of foreign affairs, this meeting is held.

Prior to the discussion with India, the preliminary coordination with the Rakhine State Government and relevant departments has been held and the preparations have been carried out for this meeting. The challenges that can be faced in the implementation of the projects have been identified and the effective coordination will be facilitated for the implementation of the projects.

Next, the Rekhine State Chief Minister and thefirst secretary of India EmbassyMr. Jitendra Rawat made the remarks.Then, the responsible officials from the ministries, Rakhine State Government and the departments reported regarding with the changes of work value, work site and measures of the building and the union minister and officials supplemented necessary suggestions, it’s learnt.
