Religious Meeting: ITBMU Council holds meeting 1/2022

The International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University Council (ITBMU) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture held its meeting 1/2022 at the University in Mayan Kone Township, Yangon on Tuesday in line with COVID-19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.

The meeting was graced by members of the Patron Sayadaws led by Patron of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University Council Rector Sayadaw Dr Bhattanda Ashin Sae Keinda, Chairman of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary Council Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, the University Council members and officials.

According to the agenda, Rector Sayadaw delivered Ovadagahta.  Later, the Union Minister supplicated teaching and administrative affairs of the university.

He also added that the government opened the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University on 9th December 1998 with the aims for the propagation of Theravada Buddha Sasana, learning and practicing Theravada Pitaka literatures, increasing the religious persons who are well-versed in Pariyatti Pitaka literature and teaching Theravada Pitaka treatises to the trainees from local and abroad.

During 24 years, 1,211 diploma (Buddha Dhamma) degree holders, 804 B.A (Buddha Dhamma) holders, 229 M.A (Buddha Dhamma) degree holders and 40 Ph.d (Buddha Dhamma) holders have been nurtured.

The pro-rector (Admin) of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University supplicated the letters to report in the meeting. Members of the University Council members discussed the letters on which the Union Minister coordinated essentials.
