At the invitation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce–ICC, the Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo attended the annual plenary meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce–ICC held at ITC Sonar Hotel in Kolkata of India on 11th November, 2022 as an honorable guest.
At the opening ceremony, the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation, Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Myanmar Ambassador to India, chairman of Indian Chamber of Commerce – ICC and members, Indian merchants and investors and invited guests.
Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo gave an opening speech at the Special Session on India-Myanmar Trade Relations.Next, the union minister clarified the questions raised by the attendees and attended the dinner hosted by ICC.The Union Minister together with Myanmar ambassador to India attended the trade meeting of the Engineering Export Promotion Council – EEPC.
The union minister clarified the prospects of boosting bilateral trade and investments, the Kyats and Rupee are to be used in the bilateral trade and the cooperation of the merchants from both countries to use Asian Clearing Union (ACU) in the transaction of the trades and replied the queries raised by the attendees.
The union minister also attended the meeting with the entrepreneurs for the promotion of bilateral trade held at the Benga Club in Kolkata at the invitation of Federation of Indian Export Organization-FIEO.
The union minister clarified the prospects of boosting bilateral trade and investments and answered the questions asked by the Indian entrepreneurs. At 3:30 PM local time, the Chairman of National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India paid a courtesy call to the Union Minister at the parlor of Bangal Clup in Kolkata and the union minister discussed more purchasing of Myanmar agricultural products especially beans and pulses by the India.
Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung met with the Kolkata based Indian export/import entrepreneurs who are interested in investing in Myanmar and boosting trade with Myanmar.
At the meeting, the union minister and ambassador gave initial explanation on the trade and investment opportunities and the Indian entrepreneurs and investors asked about the matters on the trade and investment with Myanmar and the union minister clarified the matters. A total of 15 companies from different sectors participated in the meeting, it’s learnt.
