





Speaking of regional products, rubber has become one of the good potential products in Myanmar. During the 2020-2021 fiscal year, over 300,000 tons of rubbers were exported to abroad not only via sea routes but also through border gates. It earned about 450 million USD.
Khaing Myint, General Secretary, Rubber Planters & Producers Association said "Rubber trees are mostly cultivated in Mon State, followed by Thanintharyi Region and Kayin State. They are also cultivated in Yangon, Bago and Ayeyawaddy regions, Shan and Kachin states and upper Sagging Region. During the previous year, 75 percent of rubber was exported to China and the remaining was to Malaysia, Singapore, India, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Korea."
The General Secretary added that currently, rubber exportation can be done without license but it is essential to follow rules and regulations of the government. Rubber growers are urged to choose suitable and quality seeds to boost production. Only 8 percent of the cultivated rubber is used in local and 75 percent are being exported to China, it’s learnt.
