BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting: MoALI Union Minister joins 2nd meeting on agriculture

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo joined the second Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture (BAMM) of the Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) held in India via videoconferencing.

The Union Minister explained Myanmar’s preparations for Regional Agricultural on Food Security meeting in December to practically implement the decisions of State Leaders made at 4th BIMSTEC Summit regarding sustainable profits of agricultural produce and promotion of production rate. 

The Union Minister also served as Joint Chairperson and presented the implementation of decisions of the GAP Meeting organized by Myanmar, a common project of BIMSTEC encouraging private sector participation especially in value chain management for agricultural products, the contract-farming system of Myanmar and efforts to adopt plant biotechnology, plant genetic technology and modern digital agricultural technology to develop the agricultural sector.

This meeting approved the report of the 2nd Senior Official’s Meeting on Agriculture (SOM-A), Action Plan for Strengthening BIMSTEC Agricultural Cooperation (2023-2027), MoU between the BIMSTEC Secretariat and the International Food Policy Research Institute, Joint Statement of the 2nd BAMM and set the time and date for the 3rd BAMM.
