







The 75th Diamond Jubilee Supply and Transport Corps Day celebration was held at the transit camp in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday with an address by Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win.
First, Quarter Master General Lt-Gen KyawSwa Linn of the Commander-in-Chief Office (Army), the Director of the Supply and Transport Corps and the Commander formally opened the celebration. The Vice Senior General veiled the signboard of the 75th Diamond Jubilee Supply and Transport Corps Day celebration.
At the ceremony, the Vice Senior General said that the Supply and Transport Corps was the only force that grew up closely together with the Burmese Independence Army (BIA) throughout the anti-fascist history of Myanmar's Independence struggle. On 27 July 1942, BIA was dissolved and the Burma Defense Army (BDA) was reorganized into 8 departments.
Among them, the Supply and Transport Corps was also included. In order to increase the administrative support matters needed for the Tatmadaw, the Supply and Transportation Directorate was established in Yangon on 7th November in 1947.
As such, November 7th which was established as an important unit of the Myanmar Tatmadaw was designated as the Support and Transport Corps Day. The Vice Senior General also clarified the efforts of the Support and Transport Corps in Myanmar’s Independence struggle, reorganization of the corps, providing support and transport processes for the nation, production of rations that are necessary for Tatmadaw and military operations, selling foodstuff produced by Tatmadaw factories to Tatmadaw family members, departmental staff and locals through the Supply and Transport Corps with reasonable prices, participation in public building tasks, rescue measures and rehabilitation tasks due to natural disasters, transportation medical supplies during COVID-19, volunteering in COVID-19 treatment centers, helping in repatriation process of returnees to the places in the regions and states and the responsibilities of the Corps.
Later, the Director of the Supply and Transport Corps explained about the history of the Corps and a documentary video clip on the celebration was shown. Members of the Supply and Transport Corps entertained the songs in honour of the 75th Anniversary celebration.
The Director of the Supply and Transport Corps later presented the commemorative gift marking the celebration to the Vice Senior General. The Vice Senior General then cordially greeted retired Support and Transport Corps members and senior officers and viewed around the booths marking the celebration.
