New Facility: Zwegabin Stadium opened in Kayin State

Hailing the 67th anniversary Kayin State Day, Zwegabin Stadium was opened in HlarKaMyin  Ward of Hpa-an Township on 5th November.

Member of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung formally opened the facility, followed by the unveiling of the stone inscription of the sports grounds by SAC member Saw Daniel. Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo later gave a speech, stressing the needs to support for development of sports sector and long-term maintenance of the facility.

Zwegabin Stadium was constructed with the budget allotment of 7.76 billion kyats in 2022-2023 fiscal year. It is equipped with the seating stands, 400-meter Synthetic Runway, a football ground, LED Score Board and other related equipment.

The construction works have been undertaken by the Construction Special Group (13) of the Construction Department in cooperation with 7 companies. The newly opened stadium later hosted the Inter-Township U-18 Men and Women Track and Field Tournament. 168 athletic players from 7 teams are taking part in the tournament which will be held from 5th to 7th November.

On the 4th, SAC member Mahn Nyein Maung, together with the Union Ministers and Chief Minister, visited KawGun Cave in Hpa-an Township, and paid homage to the ancient Buddha images. KawGun Cave is situated about 7 miles west of Hpa-an, and it is one of the attractive destinations for local and foreign tourists in Kayin State.

There are various shapes and sizes of Buddha images, carved with brick, cement and wood, reliefs, votive tablets and ancient inked writings as well as the Buddha images in Standing, Sitting and Reclining postures.
