Illegal trade: Timbers, electronics and vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 2 November, the combined team led by the Yangon International Port Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force captured 1,140 kilogrammes of cables that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Hteedan Container Checkpoint and 496 remote-controlled toy cars and 64 remote-controlled toy drones that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint.

On 3 November, officials nabbed wools that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal Container Checkpoint and 78,000 litres of Jockey lubricant that did not match the Import Declaration (ID) from three containers at Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT).

In addition, a combined team led by Myanmar Police Force captured an unregistered Jialing motorbike in Monywa Township, an unregistered Thai Anbo motorbike and an unregistered Jing Gong 22-wheel car in Sagaing Township, an unregistered Lexus car in Ayadaw Township and an unregistered Honda Stream car at the combined checkpoint on the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road.

Afterwards, an on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint confiscated 29 water heaters without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. On 4 November, illegal timbers were captured in the Yoma protected public forest reserve of Yedashe Township. Therefore, 12 arrests (estimated value of 248.206 million Kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 2 to 4 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
