Illegal trade: Timbers, industrial materials and vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 28 October, an on-duty team captured seven items of goods including aluminium materials without import licences from a container at Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint.

In A combined team composing members of the Tatmadaw and Bhamo Township Customs Department confiscated illegal jade bracelets and jade beads from two vehicles at the 5-Mile Checkpoint of Bhamo Township. Moreover, a total of 2.76 tonnes of illegal timbers were captured in the Thaboung Township of Pathein district.

On 31 October, a combined team led by Yangon International Airport Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized cosmetics without official documents. On 1st November, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint, 60 bags of animal food without official documents were captured from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon.

Also, at the Mayanchaung  Permanent Checkpoint of Mon State, a combined team confiscated 60 cartons of spray paint that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Dongfeng  Tractor Head and a trailer. A combined team captured a total of 5.31 tonnes of illegal timbers in the Yenwe () forest reserve in Kyauktaga Township of Nyaunglebin district.

Therefore, 12 arrests (approximately 231.30 million Kyats) were made on 28, 30, 31st October and 1st November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
