





The 2nd ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit hosted by Cambodia was held through video conferencing on Wednesday and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine, the Director-General of the Social Welfare Department, Chairperson of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, the Focal Person of ASEAN Women’s Affairs and officials participated in the event.
At the opening ceremony, the Combodian Prime Minister and officials delivered opeining remarks. In the plenary session of the “Building A More Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Future: Unlocking Women’s Entrepreneurship in ASEAN” that is the motto of the summit, the ASEAN women affairs leaders participated as the panelists and exchanged their views and experiences respectively.
Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine discussed implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG Goals) to have gender equality, the rights and empowers of women, enabling to participate women throughout Myanmar in equality with men in the respective sectors, formation of the National Committee of Women’s Affairs to protect violence against women, implementation of the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women-NSPAW (2013-2022), plan to draft the NSPAW Phase II (2023-2032), 24-hour Help Line service, conducting vocational trainings for the emergence of women entrepreneurs and sustainable economic development and implementation of work plan for the Restoration of Livelihoods for Rural Women during Covid-19 as the pilot project.
In regard with the Declaration on Building A More Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Future: Unlocking Women’s Entrepreneurship in ASEAN, participants reported in brief and remarked the discussions. The Summit then ended with concluding remarks by the Cambodian Prime Minister.
