Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau detailed the extent of the damage caused by storm Fiona on Saturday while advising citizens to listen to local authorities as the "situation remains very dangerous". Trudeau said support on a federal level to affected areas has already been approved following a meeting with the Incident Response Group.

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada said "We're seeing reports of significant damage in the region and recovery is going to be a big effort. We will be there to support every step of the way. I know Canadians across the country, as always, want to help. So we're announcing that we will match any Red Cross donations Canadians and corporations make over the next 30 days."

Fiona transformed from a hurricane into a post-tropical storm late Friday, but it still had hurricane-strength winds and brought drenching rains and huge waves. There was no immediate confirmation of fatalities or injures.
