







On 27th August, the opening ceremony of Yangon Region Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts was held in MCC hall, with the aim to value the Myanmar’s traditional customs and culture.
At the ceremony, Chief Minister U Soe Thein delivered an opening speech and the video clip of the contestants who was competed in the Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition (District Level) was presented to the audience.
After formal opening of the Regional Level competition, the entertainment programs were presented by the Myanmar traditional dance troupe and respective vocalists.
Chairman, 23rd Competition Organizing Committee, Advocate General Htay Aung said "Although this competition was not held for 6 years since 2016, it is being held again under the State Administration Council. Today competition is a kind of regional level competition for 1st and 2nd level contestants. Although there are 14 districts in Yangon, the competition was held based on the 4 former districts, for 2 days each from 6th and 7th August."
278 contestants competed in the regional level competition, and they have been selected through the district level competitions.
Vocalist, Yati Lin Latt said "I have competed this Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition since 2004. Although this competition has been held before, it has not been hold for a long time. Now the officials are organizing the competitions for enthusiasts again and I believed Myanmar new generation can surely preserve the Myanmar’s traditions and customs through traditional competitions. "
Contestant, Phuu Akari Saung said "It’s 1st time for me to compete in this kind of competition and I will compete with dancing art. My Mom is a dance instructor and I made practicing under the guidance of her. I have never expected and I’m very happy to pass successfully till this stage. I also want to invite the new generations to compete in this competition and it’s a great honor for Myanmar people to preserve the Myanmar’s traditions which represents the prestige of the nation."
Yangon Regional level Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition will be held for 3 days from 27th to 29th August, and contestant will compete in dancing, marionette, narration of jataka stories, playing musical instruments and singing competitions respectively.
