A ship loaded with 15,000 tons of Ukrainian corn seed moored in Italy's Ravenna port on Friday night. The Rojen bulk carrier ship, sailing under the Maltese flag, arrived from Odesa, with the unloading operation starting on Saturday morning.
Russia and Ukraine signed separate agreements at the end of July with Turkey and the United Nations, clearing the way for the export of millions of tons of desperately needed Ukrainian grain - as well as some Russian grain and fertilizer across the Black Sea.
The Black Sea region is dubbed the world's bread basket, with Ukraine and Russia key global suppliers of wheat, corn, barley and sunflower oil that millions of people in Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia rely on for survival.
