Putin meets heads of Russian political parties after elections

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the leaders of parliamentary factions in the State Duma following the recent elections on Monday.

During the meeting, Putin thanked the tens of millions of citizens for the high turnout, said it ensured the vote's "indisputable and unconditional legitimacy". Putin has ruled Russia since New Year's Eve 1999 and his United Russia party has dominated the country's political scene since the early 2000s.
