



Shan State Natural Disaster Management Committee held its work coordination meeting 2/2022 at the Shan State Government Office in Taunggyi on Tuesday.
On behalf of Shan State Chief Minister, the State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Col. HlaOo said that there have been 228 disasters including floods, strong wind, hailing, lightning and other disasters from 1st January 2022 till now and over 45,291 population of 10,526 households were affected and 67 people were dead and 116 were injured.
The State Government has provided relief aid and funding worth over 283.2 million kyats to affected people. Recently, floods were occurred in Taunggyi, Yat Sauk, Kyaukme and Tachiliek Townships in Shan State due to the torrential rains and assistance were provided for the damaged houses and flood-affected people have been accommodated in relief camps and rice and other assistance have been provided.
He added that the State Natural Disaster Management Committee is carrying out effectively preparatory measures for natural disaster in Shan State and emergency response tasks under the guidance of the National Disaster Management Committee and called for the Natural Disaster Working Committees to carry out the tasks systematically.
Later, secretary of the State Government, the respective working committees and officials explained about the natural disaster management activities in Shan State. In response to the report, the State Minister for Security and Border Affairs fulfilled the needs.
