For the COVID-19 prevention, the face masks are provided at the entrance and the sellers and buyers are being reminded to wear face masks through hand speaker. For the security matters, 4 CCTVs have been installed in the market and monitored by 7 security guards. Also there are 20 fire extinguishers for fire safety, according to the officials.
Thein Aung, Division Head (YCDC) said “There are 12 markets established by YCDC in Kyeemyindaing, Sanchaung, Ahlone including the Hanthawaddy tax-free market. The main purpose of the market is for the own growers and gardeners. We are taking strict action to ensure that the tax-free market is regulated and consistent with health.”
There are 2 market stalls with the 23 fish and meat shops and 85 vegetable shops. There are total of 108 shops of running business daily in the market.
Buyer said “I always buy at this market because the price of the things is affordable than the other markets. There is a lot of seafood and those are also fresh. We want more duty-free markets to be opened. I am happy to buy in this market.”
Hanthawaddy Tax -Free market is located nearly Hantharwaddy roundabout and Kyun Taw road of Ahlone District in Yangon. And it is opened daily from 6 am to 12 pm without any holidays.
