Illegal trade: Timbers, restricted goods, vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 4 August, an inspection team under the instructions of the Mon State Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force confiscated 2,000 kilogrammes of restricted chemical – Ammonium Nitrate – worth 3.6 million Kyats at the Shwethanlwin Tollgate in Belin Township.

On 5 August, a team led by the Yangon Region Forest Department seized illegal timbers in Oakkan forest reserve in Taikkgyi Township of Yangon North District. In addition, illegal teak, ironwood and other timbers were confiscated in Bago, Thayawady and Pyi districts on 4 August.

On 6 August, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force confiscated an unregistered Honda Air Wave car. In addition, a combined team under the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force impounded duty-free warm clothes and perfume detergent (ABC branded) from a Nissan Diesel Tractor Head truck near the Htonebo junction on Yangon- Mandalay Road.

Therefore, nine arrests (approximately 71.23 million Kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 4 to 6 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
