Rice Industry: Export and local consumption data

In Myanmar rice export sector, domestically produced rice such as Nga Sein, Yadanar Toe and Shwe Wah Tun are being exported abroad and about 2 million tons of rice are exported yearly.

Currently, the price of rice exported abroad is stable, according to the Myanmar Rice And Paddy Traders Association. 1.5 million tons of rice in June and 1.8 million tons in July were exported more than usual. About 200,000 tons of rice for a month and about 2 million tons of rice are being exported yearly.

Chairman, Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), Nay Lin said "We are planning to export up to 4million tons of rice in 2025-2026. There are 2 types of rice; the rice exported abroad and the rice for local consumers. The most exported rice are Nga Sein, Yadanar Toe and Shwe Wah Tun, and rice such as Ma Naw Thukha, Aye Yar Min, Aye Yar Padaethar is widely consumed in local. We are trying to set the basic price to cover the cultivation costs for farmers, to afford for domestic consumers and to be able to export abroad than before. "

It’s reported that Myanmar Rice Federation is always trying to make the price of rice to be able to competitive with the international market. In cooperation with relevant organizations, the Federation is also working to set the basic price of rice to protect and be profitable for the farmer’s business, to cover the farming cost and to make it affordable for consumers.
