








Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov at the SAC Chairman office in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
On the occasion, they discussed holding of diamond jubilee celebrations as diplomatic relations of the two countries will turn 75 years in 2023, further opening of two Myanmar Consulates in Russia and efforts for opening Russian Consulates in Myanmar to boost diplomatic ties, cooperation as the permanent partnership countries and permanent Allies, the internal affairs of the countries can be managed by the governments without foreign interference as Russia and Myanmar are sovereign countries, plans to extend Russia-Myanmar Friendship Associations, exchange of good-will visits between the two governments and Tatmadaw senior officials, promoting of defence, trade and economic cooperation, boosting tourism industry, religious and cultural cooperation, dispatching of military scholars for human resource development, cooperation in humanitarian affairs and International and regional relations.
The meeting also focused on the issues that have been created in technical and social parts in advance by the ruling party to gain an advantage before starting the 2020 general election, taking the State responsibility in line with the Constitution due to voting frauds, terrorist acts, giving penalties in line with the law to those who make mine explosions and killings through terrorisms,Myanmar’s political reforms, endeavouring for achieving eternal peace, plans for re-holding election in line with the future work program at the time when the peace and stability is ensured according to security and establishing a Union based on democracy and federalism.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Russian Foreign Minister exchanged commemorative gifts. Diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Russia will turn 75 years on 18th February 2023.
During the time of the State Administration Council, trade for economic affairs of the two countries and the two armies, cooperation in scientific and technological affairs, defense and other bilateral cooperation are being promoted. It is reported that the Russian Foreign Minister visited Myanmar in 2013 and held talks with officials.
