






The National-Level Working Committee on Administration and Management of Natural Resources in Coastal Areas held its 2nd meeting at the Forest Department in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Working Committee, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi said that conservation of the country's natural resources are being carried out as a national responsibility and the country's coastal and mangrove sector managements are being accelerated.
The The Blue Economy is not just economic development related to the ocean but also the sustainability of coastal resources, stability of the marine ecosystem, improvement of the socio-economic life of people in developing countries bordered with the seas.
In order to develop policies for the development of Myanmar's blue economy, a comprehensive national level coastal resource management plan is being implemented. The coast of Myanmar possesses 3/5 of the entire ecosystem of the Bay of Bengal, and the coastal and marine ecosystems fully exist.
The Union Minister said that the long-term sustainability measures will be accelerated to solve effectively the problems on deterioration of marine resources, lessening food safety, decreasing livelihoods and throwing waste materials into the sea through the cooperation of department- and sector-wise.
Later , the Vice Chairman of the Working Committee, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation gave a speech and the secretary of the Work Committee reported on the Committee’s responsibilities and undertakings.
