20th ASEAN University Games: Sepak Takraw & Wushu sports teams left for Thailand

The ASEAN Universities Games is a biennial sports event that involves from the universities of the ASEAN member countries. 

Myanmar Sepak Takraw and Wushu sports teams left for Thailand to compete in the 20th ASEAN University Games 2022 via Yangon International Airport on Sunday.

Dr Tin Tun, Leader, Wushu (Myanmar University Sports Team) said "The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Education have jointly trained Wushu athletes. They have experienced in the international games, SEA games. They are ready to compete in the event."

Swe Swe Thant, Coach, Wushu (Myanmar University Sports Team) said "We won medals in the 19th ASEAN University Games. This time, we will participate with only 3 athletes. We have prepared for gaining the highest prizes. Although we have only 6 weeks for training time, we have trained for the athletes to achieve the target."

In the 20th ASEAN University Games, Myanmar university athletes are competing in 4 kind of sports; football, archery, Sepak Takraw and Wushu. In the Sepak Takraw event, Myanmar will participate with new young athletes.

Aung Kyaw Moe, Coach, Sepak Takraw (Myanmar University Sports Team) said " We will compete in double regu and regu events in the Games. We will participate in the events with refresher athletes. The Sepak Takraw event will be held from 2nd to 6th August."

Myanmar University Sports team wich left for Thailand include 3 athletes and 3 coaches and referees of Wushu sports as well as 8 athletes and 4 coaches and referees of Sepak Takraw altogether 18. The 20th ASEAN University Games 2022 is being held in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. There are 23 sports competing from July 26 to August 6 with eleven participating countries from Southeast Asian region.
