Webb experts extoll telescope's significance

Two experts on the Webb space telescope extolled its significance for future space exploration in a panel organized by NASA. NASA published the first images taken by the new James Webb Space Telescope this week, showing the farthest humanity has seen in both time and distance.

 A Webb project scientist, Alexandra Lockwood said that the telescope would allow scientists to investigate such questions as why the Earth has water, as well as search for other planets with water. Webb astronomer Nestor Espinoza noted the speed of the telescope compared to previous telescopes such as Hubble. He added that Webb is the first observatory that will allow us to explore worlds as small as ours.
