Rare white lions find new home at Venezuelan Zoo

A pride of Snow White lions are the latest acquisition to one of Venezuela's Caracas' most prominent zoos, in an attempt to bring new life to the zoo with newly imported species to boost visitor numbers.

After years of sustained deterioration due to the lack of sufficient funding, the zoo is now accumulating achievements in an effort to recover its former splendor.

As part of this rebirth, the zoo welcomed four white lion cubs, managing to attract thousands of visitors who had once left the place in oblivion.

With the very rare white lions and other local and exotic animals, Caricuao Zoo administrators hope that the 630-hectare park - where almost 600 hectares are a reserve of fauna, flora and the region's watershed - will become an attractive place to visit.

The Caricuao Zoo currently has 400 specimens and 55 species, including kangaroos, hippopotamuses, lions, jaguars and dromedaries.
