







According to the Population and Housing Census Law promulgated on 29th July, 2013, to carry out the 2024 Population and Housing Census, the coordination meeting to form the Central Census Commission and Committee was held at the Ministry of Immigration and Population, Nay Pyi Taw on April 21 with the attendance of Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Khin Yi and the Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, director generals and officials who are planned to include in the Central Census Commission and Committee.
At the meeting, the Union Minister U Khin Yi highlighted the importance of carrying out the population and housing census for the social, economic management for a country.
The union minister added that the ministry is implementing for the 2024 enumeration of population and housing census in the entire nation by drawing the plans.
The preparation phase for the population and housing census including preparation, collecting, compiling, analyzing and issuing reports is being carried out within about 51 months from October, 2021 to December 2025.
Now, the preparation phase is being initiated. During the tenure of incumbent government, 5 out of 8 processes in the first phase of preparation including compiling basic data, drawing Project Document, formation of census commission and committees, GIS mapping, planning the collecting plots, compiling questions and manuals will be implemented by drawing the timeframes.
This meeting is held to have suggestions for the planning to form the census commission and committees included in the five steps. The attendees are urged to discuss and give advices not to leave behind for the departments to be included necessarily.
Next, the director general of the department of population U Win Zaw Aung clarified the implementation for carrying out the 2024 Population and Housing Census and draft formation of Central Census Commission and Committee.
Then, the Union Minister U Win Shein gave suggestions on the conditions to be included in the commission and committee, the points to be added in the process and the tasks to be amended and supplemented and the points to be put in the question type and the attendees discussed the programs to be provided by the departments. After giving a speech of conclusion by the Union Minister U Khin Yi, the meeting was concluded.
