Proper Flow Of Water: 6 Sediment Dams To Be Built In Inle Lake

The six sediment dams will be built in the creeks at the eastern and western parts of Inle Lake in 2022-2023 financial year to increase water level in the lake,to proper flow of water in the lake and to develop tourism industry.

An official from the Irrigation and Water Resources Utilization Management Department of NyaungShwe said that with the aims for ensuring the long-term sustainability of Inle Lake, the construction of silting facilities, irrigation canals, clearing of wild islands and seaweeds are being carried out.  

Among them, building the sediment facilities is one of the main purposes of the long- term sustainability of Inle Lake. The department will also dredge 100,000 silting pits in the financial year of 2022-2023.
