




After Thingyan, about 2,000 vehicles of 100 YBS bus lines are operating in Yangon for the convenience of passengers, according to the Joint Secretary of Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC).
During Thingyan period, only about 800 vehicles of 50 YBS bus lines were the road. On the Myanmar New Year Day, April 17, 92 YBS bus lines operated and 10 out of those 92 bus lines offered free ride services.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lyan Cin Mang said "During Thingyan period, about 900 vehicles of 50 YBS bus lines operated and there were about 100,000 passengers. On the Myanmar New Year Day, over 2,000 vehicles of 92 YBS bus lines operated and there were about 300,000 passengers. There were 10 bus lines of 5 companies which offered free ride services on that day."
Now, about 2,000 vehicles of 100 YBS bus lines are operating. It’s estimated that over 3,000 vehicles of about 118 bus lines will run as usual soon and the number of passengers will increase to 800,000.
