Sandalwood Grinding Festival: Rakhine Traditional Festival held in Sittwe

Rakhine State Government organized Rakhine Traditional Sandalwood Grinding Festival and Water Pouring to Buddha Image in Sittwe on 13th April.

Member of the State Administration Council Daw Aye Nu Sein, together with Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min, Commander of Western Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo and officials, attended the ceremony.

After formal opening of the ceremony, the Chief Minister explained the purpose of the organizing the Sandalwood Grinding Ceremony. The SAC member and party later enjoyed the grinding of sandalwood by the participating teams.

The sandalwood paste, gained from the ceremony, were later offered to the Buddha images at Atula Marazein Pyilone Chantha Pagoda in Sittwe. The Rakhine State Government also made 10 million kyats donation for renovation of the pagoda.
