Venezuelan Catholics marked the start of the Holy Week celebrations on Saturday, marching with palm leaves and branches meant for rites in the following days.

The 200-year-old tradition, known as "Palmers of Chacao," was suspended for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The "Palmers of Chacao" climb the Avila hill on Friday, one of the most visible mountains in the steep skyline of Caracas and come down only after harvesting enough plants for the rites of Palm Sunday.
