Electricity Supply: MOEE Union Minister inspects Hydropower Project

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo, together with the Commander of Triangle Region Command, inspected Wan Tar Pon Hydropower Project, about 17 miles northwest of Kengtung in Shan State (East) on Thursday.

The Union Minister said arrangements have been made for generation hydropower and solar power in priorities. He stressed that the hydropower projects could help prevent flooding and drying up of river during summer as well as for transporting commodity goods.

The project is being implemented on Namt Lway River in Wan Tar Pon Village, and it can generate about 802 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
