Final Rites: Incineration of Late State Ovadacariya Sayadaw

The final rites of late S t a t e O v a d a c a r i y a Sayadaw Chairman of Shwegyin Nikaya Dhipati Maha Nayaka Dhamma Senapati 15th Shwegyin Sangharaja Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Presiding Nayaka Bhaddanta Vijjota of Vijjotayon Monastery in Mayangon Township of Yangon Region took place on Tuesday.

Members of the Sangha led by Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies Sayadaw BhaddantaNyanissara, Secretary of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko and officials attended the occasion.

The congregation took Five Precepts from the Presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Jotika of Sasana Alinnyaung Monastery of Dawbon Township.  

Member of Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka (Shwegyin) Committe Presiding Sayadaw of Sasana Wunsaung Monastery read out the biography of the Vijjotayon Sayadaw. It was followed by the reading out of religious gathas and the message of repentance by the Sayadaws, and Union Minister U Ko Ko, dedicated to the demise of the Sayadaw.

The SAC Secretary and the congregation later listened to thesermon on remorse delivered by Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies DrBhaddanta Nyanissara and shared the merits gained. The remains of the late Sayadaw were conveyed onto the Karaweik decorated float and then to Thuwunna Bhumi Event Park in Thingangyun Township, where the crematorium was built.

Then, the Sangha and congregation paid homage to the remains of Sayadaw, before the incineration. The ashes of the late Sayadaw was conveyed to the monastery.
