Heritage Conservation: Ancient Pagodas in Mrauk U inspected

Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tun Ohn, together with officials, on 19th March, visited ShitTaung Temple in Mruak-U of Rakhine State, and viewed the Anandacandra Stone Pillar which was listed on Asia Pacific Regional Memory of the World Register.

The Deputy Minister instructed to make systematic preservation of the heritage which was inscribed during Waithali Era from 4 AD to 10 AD. The Deputy Minister also inspected the temple and instructed to make renovation for leakage as per suggestions of the experts.

The Deputy Minister later inspected Andawthein Pagoda, LaungPunPyauk Pagoda, CheinKaik Tripitaka Building and HtoakkanThein Pagoda.

During the inspection, the Deputy Minister instructed to make conservation works for long term maintenance of historical heritage since Mrauk U is a national level cultural heritage zone, and nominated for inscription of the World Heritage List.
