Illegal Trade: Illegal Teak Seized In Yangon Region and Bago Region

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.

A combined Inspection Team and Region Forestry Department led by Anti-Trafficking Task Force conducted inspections in Yangon Region on the 14th of March. Over 6 tonnes of illegal teak and door pieces worth over 1 million Kyats were seized in Hlaingthaya Township of Yangon Region and legal action is being taken under the Forest Law.

Also, a combined inspection team led by the Department of Forest conducted an inspection in Okpho Township of Bago Region on the 16th March and seized over 6 tonnes of illegal timber worth over 230,000 Kyats were seized and action is being taken under the Forest Law.
