Ethnic Affairs: Tanintharyi Region Director's Office Opened

Taninthayi Region Director's Office of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs was opened on Sunday and Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung and members of Taninthayi region government attended the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, the Union Minister said that the newly opened Tanintharyi Region Director's Office is the 11th one and the building was constructed by R.S.E Engineering Group Co.Ltd on 4th March 2020 with over 325 million kyats work permitted fund.

The construction tasks were completed on 1st June 2020. The Union Minister clarified the Ministry’s efforts for promoting social life of ethnic people, appointment of Teaching Assistants-TA and Language Teachers-LT who will teach with help of ethnic languages at the basic education for enhancing learning skill of ethnic children and conducting health awareness poster with ethnic languages.

Moreover, the Ministry is undertaking solar system in some areas of ethic regions, teaching vocational trainings, better transportation, availability of drinking water and construction of dispensaries in cooperation with relevant ministries.

The Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko said that the regional government provides ethnic traditional instruments for preserving and promoting the culture of ethnic nationalities, boats, rice bags and other materials for improving socio-economic life of Salon people and funds for holding significant day ceremonies.

Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung discussed that the Director Office of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs in Taninthayi region is concerned with all ethnic nationalities and the ethnic issues can be discussed there.

The Union Minister and deputy minister presented commemorative pennant marking opening the building to the guests. After entertainment program, the Union Minister, the Region Chief Minister and the Deputy Minister presented honoraria to the ethnic cultural troupe. After the ceremony, the Union Minister and party visited cultural museum in Taninthayi Region.
