Baht-Kyat direct trade: Meeting on use of Baht-Kyat in bilateral transactions held

The coordination meeting on the use of Baht-Kyat in bilateral cross-border transactions between Myanmar and Thailand was organized by the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods and the Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) at 2:30 pm on 9 March.

Present at the meeting were the chair of the central committee, Deputy Minister U Nyunt Aung, Central Bank of Myanmar Deputy Governor Daw Than Than Swe and the officials concerned.

The meeting highlighted coordination between the departments concerned for the successful implementation of the use of Baht-Kyat in bilateral transactions, setting the pilot period for the BahtKyat direct payment trade in Myawady and Tachilek areas beginning 21 March, building a support team for the smooth coordination, raising public awareness of the guidelines for the use of Baht-Kyat in bilateral transactions in the third week of March, matters related to Baht-Kyat exchange rate, facilitation in cash withdrawal from the Baht-Kyat direct payment trade and trade reporting regimes.
