


A meeting to open Myanmar Disaster Response Team Training Course in Kachin was held at the Malikha hall in Myitkyina on Monday in line with COVID-19 health guidelines.
At the event, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine said that based on the syllabus of ASEAN-ERAT, the curriculum that is compatible with the geographical condition of Myanmar, policies and procedures is drafted to nurture the trainees of Myanmar Disaster Response Team.
The Union Minister expressed her hope that the Myanmar Disaster Response Team will become an important group for the nation to carry out disaster response, assessments and coordination in case of natural disasters. She also called for sending representatives from relevant organizations to attend the training as the trainees will be able to serve the interests of the people and participate more in public building tasks.
Then, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan expressed his belief that by attending MDRT training course, it can build an effective disaster response network in Kachin State and stressed on public participation to have achievement in the disaster response processes.
In the second session of the meeting, officials discussed plans for holding MDRT Training Course in Kachin State. Representatives from CSOs asked for further information and reported their cooperation in COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
