Rural Development Works: Emerald Green Project in Zahar Village Of Thanintharyi Region

The Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development is implementing Emerald Green Project for socio-economic development of rural areas. Zahar Village in Dawei District of Thaninthayi Region is one of the project areas, and it has been carrying out the development works since 2015-2016 fiscal year.

Union Minister U Hla Moe, on January 13th, inspected the development works, and urged the officials to make cooperative works with the local people for the success of long-term project.

It is learnt that 37 villagers are engaging in agriculture works with the capital amount of 18.2 million kyats, 12 breeders with 8.2 million kyats, 24 traders with 12.5 million kyats and 5 vocational works with 3.4 million kyats, altogether 78 villagers are operating their businesses under the Emerald Green Project with the capital amount of 42.3 million kyats in Zahar Village.

 In 2018-2019 fiscal year, the village commenced the garbage collecting service.
