Plans For Monsoon Tree Planting: Greening Tasks Along Road Side Discussed

Plans for tree planting along the road sides in coming monsoon season were discussed during a coordination meeting between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and the Ministry of Construction on January 13th.

The meeting also reviewed the completion of tree planting in 2021 monsoon season. Deputy Minister U Min Min Oo pledged to distribute quality saplings and to provide cultivation method and nurturing technique for the successful thriving of the planted trees. Deputy Minister U Win Pe also mentioned the benefits of planting trees along the road sides such as prevention from road side erosion, beautifying and providing shelter.

During 2021 monsoon season, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has planted over 52 million saplings, and distributed 275,000 saplings for road side greening tasks. The Ministry of Construction also planted over 153,000 saplings for road side greening in 2021 monsoon season.
