Inspection Trip: Union Minister Inspects Solar-Powered Irrigation Site & Dam

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo inspected  Kyaungsu solar-powered irrigation site in Thanatpin Township of Bago Region.

There, he urged the concerned departments to implement more water management systems and paddy strains distribution as well as to provide technology and assistance. Using the water from Sittaung Canal, Kyaungsu solar-powered irrigation system benefits 700 acres of farmland. In the past, the Kyaungsu irrigation system operated with the use of diesel generator and electricity pumps, it’s learnt.

Currently, there are 2 more solar-powered irrigation sites named KamNi and KanMaLay in Magway Region. The Union Minister continued his inspection trip to Ye Nwe Dam near MyoeChaung Village of KyaukTaGa Township. Ye Nwe Dam is designed to prevent Pyuntasa plain from flood in the rainy season, to generate electricity and irrigate 62,000 acres of farmland. Currently, works are underway to increase the strength of Ye Nwe Dam.
