


The Ministry of Legal Affairs launched the International Law and ASEAN Affairs basic training course 1/2022 on Tuesday.
In the opening remarks, Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney General Dr. Thida Oo said that the course is aimed to share the basic knowledge of international law and ASEAN affairs, to be smooth in the work process among the ministries when signing multilateral treaties, conventions, ASEAN and regional treaties, ratifying, signing bilateral agreements with foreign countries, NGOs and INGOs, MOUs and MOAs as well as asking for the remarks before signing the treaties.
It also intends to have cooperation with relevant organizations to implement the goal of the Strategic Plan (2020-2024) of the Ministry.
The basic principles of International law, UN and ASEAN Charters, Conventions, bilateral agreements, International Human Rights Conventions and Universal Periodic Review Processes will be trained in the 7-day course. The trainees will conduct practical exercises on the legal scrutiny of MoUs and MOAs that are usually signed by ministries.
